Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs and Global Issues Vesna Batistić Kos held political consultations on multilateral issues with a Romanian delegation led by Carmen Burlacu, State Secretary at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This was a reciprocal visit by the Romanian delegation, following the first bilateral consultations on multilateral issues held in March 2013 in Bucharest.

The meeting discussed the two countries’ activities and priorities in topical areas of multicultural cooperation, such as the UN post-2015 development agenda, global issues, the recent ECOSOC session and the High-Level Political Forum. Also discussed were security issues such as conventional arms control, nuclear weapons non-proliferation, Iran’s nuclear programme, the UN reform, the International Criminal Court issues and the current crisis points around the world in the context of international organizations.

The interlocutors concluded that the two countries’ views on said issues are convergent to a great extent, expressing hope in further strengthening of cooperation in multilateral areas of mutual interest.
