Statement by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić regarding the oral hearing in the border dispute between Croatia and Slovenia

Statement by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić regarding the oral hearing in the border dispute between Croatia and Slovenia.

TRANSCRIPT

An oral hearing in the border dispute between Croatia and Slovenia will start before the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague today. The oral hearing was preceded by Croatia and Slovenia exchanging written memorials they submitted to the arbitral tribunal on three occasions. We see this as the last stage of a very important process that has been going on for a long time. The Croatian state, government and people consider this process and the authority of this institution very important, as proven by my presence here.

What do you expect?

I expect the tribunal to make a correct ruling, in line with all relevant rules and international law. A ruling which Croatia has pledged to respect, and so did the Slovenian side. That is the only thing we can expect and why we are here.
