(Hina) - China and Croatia plan to strengthen cooperation in the education sector and China has already secured scholarships for Croatian students and Croatia too will receive students from China, Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić and Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong said after their meeting in Zagreb on Friday.
China has secured 200 scholarships for Croatian students and 20 scholarships for short seminar at the Confucius Institute in China, Liu Yandong said. "Croatia has invited representatives of the Chinese State Administration to attend the new post-graduate study of diplomacy, set up in cooperation with the University of Zagreb," Pusić said.
Liu Yandong also visited the Ruđer Bošković Institute and she and Pusić talked about possibilities of advancing cooperation in applied sciences. On Saturday, the two officials are set to visit the Plitvice Lakes and sign an agreement on setting up a joint research centre for the protection of the environment.
Pusić and Liu Yandong also talked about advancing the two countries' economic cooperation and the Croatian minister thanked the Chinese official for two donations - the Chinese Embassy donation for the victims of the recent floods and China's donation through the Red Cross.
The Chinese official was also received by Croatian President Ivo Josipović and Prime Minister Zoran Milanović.
