Signing of agreement on mutual cancellation of visas for diplomats

Croatia and Turkey signed an Agreement on the Mutual Cancellation of Visas for Holders of Diplomatic, Service and Special Passports

Assistant Minister for European Law, International Law and Consular Affairs Andrea Metelko Zgombić and Turkish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Burak Özügergin signed an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the Mutual Cancellation of Visas for Holders of Diplomatic, Service and Special Passports.

By joining the EU Croatia committed to fully adapt its visa regime with that of the EU, which means imposing visas for Turkey, said Metelko Zgombić, adding that in view of that fact, today’s agreement was very important as it showed Croatia’s readiness to continue developing relations with Turkey. Croatia and Turkey have so far signed 47 international agreements, which is further proof of the two friendly countries’ good relations and shared interests. Although bound by the EU visa policy, Croatia will try to liberalize the visa regime with Turkey, said Metelko Zgombić, adding that Croatia would be pleased if Turkey would consider the possibility of lifting visas for all Croatian citizens.
