“Role of Croatian Universities in Drafting of EU Strategies”

A round table themed “The EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) and the Role of Croatian Universities in the Drafting of EU Strategies” is to be held in Rijeka on Friday 11 April

A round table themed “The EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) and the Role of Croatian Universities in the Drafting of EU Strategies” is to be held in Rijeka on Friday 11 April at 13.00 hours at the City Council, Korzo 16.

The EUSAIR gathers four EU member states (Croatia, Greece, Italy and Slovenia) and four SEE countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia). The strategy, which aims to stimulate economic growth, reduce unemployment, and improve economic and social cohesion, is expected to be adopted by the end of the year.

The goal of this round table is to inform the academic community and local authorities about preparations for the adoption of EUSAIR, in order for concrete projects to be readied in the best way possible. The adoption and implementation of the new macro-regional strategy will contribute to the common goal of stimulating growth and sustainable development of the region. Therefore, it is important to take advantage of all the opportunities of macro-regional cooperation in areas crucial for economic prosperity, and here is where the academic community and local administration play a pivotal role.

Addresses are to be delivered by Rijeka Mayor Vojsko Obersnel and Primorsko-Goranska County Head Zlatko Komadine, with keynote presentations by Rijeka University Rector Pero Lučin, Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Hrvoje Marušić, Assistant Minister of Economy Vedran Kružić, Director of Research and Development at JGL Dorotea Pernjak and Bruno Grubešić from the Ministry of Economy, in charge of EUSAIR.

The round table is organized by the University of Rijeka and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
