Assistant Minister for European Affairs Hrvoje Marušić 22 January in Ljubljana met with the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director General for Bilateral Relations and European Affairs Tadej Rupel and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director General for European Affairs Luigi Mattiolo. The meeting is a part of regular trilateral talks discussing issues of the three countries’ common interest. The key topic of this particular meeting, apart from the current European issues, included prospects of developing energy and transport infrastructure in north Adriatic and joint efforts to advance the competitiveness of ports in the area.
The trilateral cooperation was launched at the 2013 Venice meeting between the three countries’ prime ministers and these talks are part of preparations for the next meeting to be held early-March in Piran, which is to discuss future cooperation between the three governments within the EU policies.
Marušić also held bilateral talks with the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director General Rupel, discussing topical European and bilateral issues, including the transferred savings of Ljubljanska Banka, whereby Marušić underlined that Croatia had met all of its commitments from the Memorandum of Agreement signed 11 March 2013 in Mokrice. Croatia has together with Slovenia sent a letter to the Bank for International Settlements and ensured that the proceedings launched before the Croatian courts are halted.
