Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Hrvoje Marušić attended the Conference on Macro-regional Strategies, organized 11 October in Trieste by the Central European Initiative. The conference was attended by high representatives on the European Commission, Committee of Regions, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as a large number of businessmen and institution representatives.
The debate defined further steps to ensure the purposefulness and efficiency of macro-regional strategies. Marušić underlined the need to focus on measures and projects that would have strategic effect, as well as the need to ensure complete alignment with the EU policies and national priorities of the states involved. He also stressed the importance of macro-regional cooperation in facilitating the EU enlargement process. On the sidelines of the conference a short working meeting was held with Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Marta Dassù.
