The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs welcomes the Framework for Elimination of Syrian Chemical Weapons reached by US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on 14 September in Geneva.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs welcomes the Framework for Elimination of Syrian Chemical Weapons reached by US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on 14 September in Geneva.

Croatia considers it a priority that the Framework be fully implemented, which includes soonest possible adoption of a relevant UN Security Council resolution. It is of paramount importance that the Government in Damascus immediately and unconditionally starts to cooperate with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), so that chemical weapons could come under international supervision as soon as possible and subsequently be destroyed.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs is hopeful that the Framework for Elimination of Syrian Chemical Weapons will help revive the Geneva 2 process with the aim of ending the violence in Syria and reaching a lasting political solution for the crisis in that country.
