First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić 18 June met with President of the Romanian Senate George Crin Laurentiu Antonescu during his official visit to Croatia

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić 18 June met with President of the Romanian Senate George Crin Laurentiu Antonescu during his official visit to Croatia.

Pusić and Antonescu underscored the two countries’ good bilateral relations, which stand to get new impetus with Croatia’s entering the EU. They also stressed that both countries were interested in the stability of the Western Balkans.

The two officials discussed the prospect of Croatia-Romania economic cooperation, underlining the need for opening a direct Bucharest-Zagreb flight, given that there already is a direct seasonal Bucharest-Dubrovnik flight, as well as the prospect of strengthening cooperation between the Adriatic and Black Sea ports of Rijeka and Constanta.

Antonescu congratulated Croatia on its upcoming EU entry, adding it was “a success on part of all the Croatian citizens, from politicians to NGOs”.
