Minister Pusić, EC Vice President Kallas discuss transport corridors

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić met today with European Commission Vice President and Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić met today with European Commission Vice President and Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas.

Pusić said it was in Croatia’s interest that its transport routes be integrated into the core network of corridors as infrastructure is crucial for Croatia’s economic activity and relations with the neighbours. The minister also stressed the importance of the railway link between Zagreb and Belgrade, i.e. Corridor X, as well as Corridor Vb Budapest-Zagreb-Rijeka.

Kallas said it was important to have well-developed projects that can apply for EU funding. “It takes hard work and dedication to succeed,” the commissioner said.

In regard to the Pelješac Bridge, Pusić said that the feasibility had shown that that was the best option to connect Croatia's south with the rest of the country, adding that we were well aware that in order to apply for EU funding we must have a project that would meet all of the required criteria.
