Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović 29 April in Astana held political consultations with Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Volkov.

The two officials underlined the excellent bilateral relations, which have been consistently on the upswing during the last several years. Klisović and Volkov agreed that time had come to concretize the cooperation, notably by strengthening the cooperation in trade, direct investment, and the transfer of know-how and technology. To that end, the two officials agreed on the dynamic of filling out the required legal framework, the setting up of an intergovernmental cooperation commission and the exchange of high-level visits.

Klisović also met with Deputy Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Timur Zhaksylykov, whom he informed about Croatian companies’ interest in a more prominent venture onto the Kazakh market and the possibility of Kazakh investments in Croatia. The Croatian delegation was familiarized with the main features of the rising Kazakh economy and the preconditions for entering its market.

At a business forum organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Croatian Chamber of Economy, addresses were delivered by president of the Kazakh National Industrial Chamber, president of the Trade and Industry Chamber and president of the Investment Council of the Ministry of Industry, who said bilateral cooperation held a lot of promise and expressed a wish for intensifying contacts between the two countries’ economic subjects.  Several Croatian companies from sectors such as food industry, shipbuilding and pharmaceutics presented their products and services as well as held business talks with the existing and potential Kazakh partners.
