Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović 25 March 2013 in Kiev held political consultations with Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Viktor Majko.

The two officials proposed further intensification of all forms of existent relations, including high-level meetings, which could be held as early as this year. Apart from exchanging opinions about bilate5ral political issues, Klisović and Majko confirmed the two countries’ willingness to continue with the cooperation within multilateral organizations.

Part of the consultations was also dedicated to Ukraine’s priorities for 2013 as the current OSCE presiding country.

Apart from the bilateral treaties that are already being prepared, Klisović and Majko discussed continued economic cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, notably infrastructure, tourism, agriculture and energy. Klisović stressed the importance Croatia and MFEA placed on advancing economic diplomacy and outlined the steps the government was taking to facilitate foreign investments.

The two officials agreed it was also necessary to continue strengthening the economic, cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries’ regions and cities,

As part of the consultations, Klisović and Deputy Minister of Economy Maksjuta signed a Treaty on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of Ukraine, which solidifies the legal basis for the two countries’ cooperation in this important area.
