First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić 13 February 2013 met with the European Affairs Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, Nicolai Wammen. The talks focused on Croatia’s meeting the remaining requirements before the next European Commission report. Pusić said that Wammen had arrived in Croatia at a right time to get first-hand information about Croatia’s progress, as Denmark is one of the five EU member states that have not yet ratified Croatia's EU Accession Treaty, but is one of the four that have begun the ratification process. “We are looking forward to Croatia’s EU entry and we will complete the ratification process by early May,” said Wammen, expressing belief that the remaining issues would be solved. The talks also discussed the political and economic relations between Croatia and Denmark, as well as the prospects for cooperation in trade and tourism. “Our countries have excellent political and economic relations, and cooperate in European institutions. We are optimistic about the future and interested in continuing the cooperation with Denmark even after we join the EU,” Pusić concluded. Also discussed was the situation in the region, notably relations with Slovenia, in regards to solving the issues tied to Slovenia’s ratification of our treaty.
