NATO’s Crisis Management Exercises are simulations based on fictitious scenarios and involve no actual deployment of forces. The purpose of CMX12 is to practice the Alliance’s crisis management procedures at the strategic and political level and will involve civilian and military staffs at NATO Headquarters, as well as in allied capitals.

This is the fifth CMX that is seeing Croatia’s participation.

The CMX12 scenario is based on practicing crisis management procedures in case of chemical, biological and radiological threats, as well as threats to NATO’s IT systems.

Taking part in the preparation and execution of CMX12 are NATO members and partner countries Finland and Sweden, while staffs from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the European External Action Service (EEAS) will participate as observers.
