Pusić pointed out that this visit by the Chinese deputy FM was confirmation of the good relations between the two countries and recalled the recent visit to China by Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Siniša Hajdaš Dončić and Deputy Foreign Minister Joško Klisović. She said that Croatia's accession to the EU would mean additional security for Chinese investors, adding that a direct airline service between Zagreb and Beijing would certainly contribute to the strengthening of economic relations and a larger number of Chinese tourists.

Song, who is also the Secretary-General of the Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries, emphasised that Croatia was the first country in the region that he had visited and that he paid great attention to bilateral cooperation with Croatia and the region.

Pusić and the Chinese officials agreed that infrastructure and tourism were important areas for bilateral relations. Song invited Pusić to visit China before the end of the year, adding that Croatia had been the only Central and Eastern European country that Chinese President Hu Jintao had visited.

The Secretariat for Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries is an institution within the Chinese foreign ministry responsible for coordinating investments and lending in Central and Eastern European countries.
