Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić paid a visit to the Jewish Historical Institute (Żydowski Instytut Historyczny) in Warsaw and attended the exhibition “Warsaw Ghetto – Underground Archives”. The archive was created in 1940 at the initiative of Emanuel Ringelblum and the documents contain data on the Jews that lived in the ghetto. The institute focuses on the history and culture of Polish Jews and is one of the largest archive of documents, books, press, religious exponents and art. The museum houses collections that document ten centuries of the lives of Warsaw’s Jews, facilitating further research and education on the subject, which help overcome stereotypes and raise awareness about the coexistence of Poles and Jews.

On 10 October 2012 the institute signed the first official document on cooperation with Yad Vashem, Israel’s center for holocaust research, founded in 1953.
