Pusić attended a breakfast meeting on the occasion of the Rule of Law High Level Meeting titled “Peaceful settlement of conflict: the elegant way out; the role of the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration”, organized by Dutc

The goal of the meeting was to discuss peaceful conflict settlement and stress the need to avoid force and affirm the rule of law, in support of the UN Secretary-General’s efforts to launch a campaign to increase the number of Member States that accept as compulsory the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice.

It was hosted by the Dutch foreign minister, as both institutions have their headquarters in the Netherlands.

Croatia fully supports consistent implementation of the rule of international law, as well as its implementation in multi- and bilateral relations. After all, we have turned to international arbitration on several occasions. Croatia and Slovenia agreed on ad hoc international arbitration to resolve the border issue (the Arbitration Agreement from September 2009), while the genocide suit against Serbia was brought before the International Court of Justice. It is always better to employ permanent than ad hoc bodies, as the latter result in higher expenditures.
