On the margins of the conference “The Role of the EU in UN Human Rights Reform,” held in Vienna, Minister Vesna Pusić met with Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Minister of European and International Affairs Michael Spindelegger, with whom she discussed Croatia

Minister Pusić and Minister Spindelegger agreed after their talks at the Austrian Foreign Ministry that Croatia needs to work towards improving the investment climate. “Austria is very closely tied to Croatia, it was involved in the preparations for the European Union in order for Croatia to become the 28th state, and today we discussed what could be done in the future,” stated Minister Spindelegger after his meeting with Minister Pusić, emphasizing that “a better investment climate could be created for Austrian businesspeople in Croatia”. Minister Pusić stressed that she “believes that it is necessary to improve the investment climate in Croatia”, and announced that an investment plan is under preparation to improve investments.

Minister Pusić stated that the Fitch agency improved Croatia's credit rating in certain elements last week. “This was very good news and was explained in a good way, as the serious approach the Croatian government and Croatian policy have taken have been recognised,” concluded Minister Pusić.

The Austrian Vice-Chancellor stated that Croatia and Austria have no outstanding bilateral issues, and Minister Pusić added that the two countries share identical views and that they both advocate the need for Eastern Europe to also join the EU in the future, but with the preparations and fulfilment of criteria and obligations.
