On 4 September 2012, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Croatia Oleksandar Levčenko on his inaugural visit

Ambassador Levčenko informed Minister Pusić of the current state of affairs in the Ukraine prior to the parliamentary elections scheduled for this October.

The two sides exchanged opinions on the possibilities of improving economic cooperation and stressed that it is necessary to employ the mechanisms available through the Intergovernmental Board for economic cooperation. They also emphasized that air connections between the two countries would certainly contribute to better economic cooperation.

Minister Pusić informed Ambassador Levčenko of the completion of the negotiations between the Republic of Croatia and the European Union, and on the ratification process of the Croatian Accession Agreement. She stressed that Croatia's goal is to see all the countries of the region become EU members in the near future.

On this occasion, Ambassador Levčenko thanked Minister Pusić for meeting with Ukraine Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Gryshchenko during this year's Croatia Summit held in Dubrovnik.
