Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić 18 July 2012 received the newly-appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Croatia, Msgr. Alessandro D'Errico

D'Errico said his mission to Croatia was a continuation of the work begun in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, relaying the Holy Father’s message that Croatia’s role in the region was important, especially now when it is on the verge of joining the EU. He stated that he wanted to establish a positive dialogue between the Church and secular authorities.

Pusić said Croatia was aware of the role it could and should play in the region, adding that its accession process augmented institution building and political growth. She stressed the significance of the Holy Father’s visit to Croatia the year before for the strong European messages he had sent. The Croatian minister said she was glad that the incoming nuncio was well familiar with the region and voiced satisfaction over his experience in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where he worked on promoting understanding, tolerance, cooperation and interreligious dialogue.
