The two officials voiced satisfaction with excellent bilateral relations, accompanied by intensive political dialogue and high-level exchange visits.

Pusić and Dinescu agreed that there was room for improving the cooperation between Croatia and Romania, and promoting joint interests both regionally and within the European Union. They underlined the potential for cooperation offered by the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, namely in terms of linking the port cities of Vukovar and Constanta.

The Romanian ambassador said the process of ratifying Croatia's Treaty of Accession with the EU had been launched in the Romanian Parliament. He said all political parties in Romania supported Croatia's EU entry and expressed confidence the ratification would go smoothly.

The two officials underscored the importance of regional cooperation for achieving stability and prosperity in Europe’s southeast. Pusić said that using Croatia’s transition and European integration experiences would be the topic of this year’s Croatia Summit, and once again welcomed Romanian officials’ attendance.

Dinescu informed Pusić about the plan to add the Wallachian and Istro-Romanian subdialects (archaic versions of the Romanian language) as an optional subject in the elementary school, in Šušnjevica in eastern Istria, which Minister Pusic entirely supported.
