Pusić delivered a lecture on Croatia’s pending EU membership, pointing out it was precisely the youth that the membership offered numerous opportunities in education, employment and entrepreneurship initiative.

She said that owing to the accession process, Croatia had set up a number of institutions it had not had 10 years before, while the existing ones had been upgraded and are now adhering to higher standards. Pusić also recalled that Croatia was part of a region that was very important to Europe, adding that the political, economic and institutional stabilization of the region would remain one of Croatia’s duties once it entered the European Union.

Speaking about the ratification of Croatia’s Accession Treaty, she said the government expected 12 or 13 countries to ratify the Treaty by July this year.

The attending students and ambassador of EU member-countries were greeted by Dean Tonči Lazibat, political advisor at the EU Delegation to Croatia Martin Mayer, president of the Croatian Student Association Tomislav Rasonja, and head of the European Union Days project Martina Benzon.

European Union Days will take place until Wednesday and will feature lectures, workshops and roundtables aimed at offering information about the possibilities that the EU membership offers. The theme of this year’s European Union Days is “Youth in the European Union – from Croatian Student to European Entrepreneur”.
