Pusić received director of EU Directorate-General for Enlargement Alexandra Cas Granje

Cas Granje reiterated the main remarks from the European Commission's monitoring report on Croatia, published 24 April 2012

Cas Granje reiterated the main remarks from the European Commission's monitoring report on Croatia, published 24 April 2012, underlining Croatia’s progress in preparing for the membership. She pointed out areas that require additional efforts, namely the chapters on competition policy, judiciary and fundamental rights, justice, freedom and security.

Pusić said Croatia was carefully analysing the remarks and would draw up an action plan to address all the issues requiring additional effort. She voiced confidence that a number of these issues would be resolved by 6 June this year, when a meeting of the EU-Croatia Stabilisation and Association Council is scheduled, at which Croatia is to brief the EU members on further progress in meeting the pre-accession commitments.

Pusić informed Cas Granje about the step taken to translate the EU acquis communautaire in a timely fashion.

Cas Granje called on Croatia to continue fulfilling its commitments, highlighting the importance of achieving further progress by this fall’s Comprehensive Monitoring Report, expected to be published 10 October 2012.
