Pusić received on inaugural visit British Ambassador to Croatia David Arthur Slinn

The two officials expressed satisfaction with the level of partnering relations between Croatia and the UK

The two officials expressed satisfaction with the level of partnering relations between Croatia and the UK, hopeful that they would grow even stronger once Croatia became a full-fledged member of the European family. Pusić said she expected the UK to ratify Croatia’s Accession Treaty as soon as possible.

The British ambassador stressed that the UK remained a strong supporter of Croatia’s EU accession, voicing willingness to offer assistance and transfer British experiences in building institutional capacity in order for Croatia to enter the EU fully ready. He emphasized the need for identifying mutual interests on the basis of which cooperation would be further intensified once Croatia joined the EU.

Underlining the importance of the stability of Europe’s southeast, Pusić said Croatia was willing to assist the countries in the region along their path to European integration. She announced the assembling of a team comprised of experts who had been involved in Croatia’s negotiations, which would share their knowledge via the Centre of Excellence with representatives of the neighbouring countries involved in the accession process.

Pusić informed Slinn about this year’s Croatia Summit, saying it will focus on using Croatia's experience from the EU accession process in building modern state institutions.

Also discussed was the possibility of the Croatian foreign minister’s official visit to London in fall of this year.
