The minister said Croatia appreciated the support it had received from Poland during its EU accession negotiations and the campaign for the accession referendum. She expressed interest in the transfer of Poland’s experience in communication strategy and informing the citizens about the EU, given the positive effect of these activities on their everyday life.

Tarka said Poland was interested in assisting Croatia with its experience in using the EU funds as well. He recalled the return visit by representatives of Polish regions (voivodeships) to Croatia, planned for May this year.

The two officials underscored the traditionally excellent political and overall relations, adding that both countries were interested in intensifying economic cooperation and welcoming the growing interest between Croatian and Polish companies to cooperate. They also discussed the possibility of joint projects involving renewable energy sources, energy security, and transport routes between the Baltic and the Adriatic (the Port of Rijeka).

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the continued cooperation in tourism and the growing number of Polish tourists visiting Croatia – nearly half a million last year. Tarka said the coming European soccer championship would be another opportunity to develop cooperation and bring more Croatian tourists to Poland. He recalled that the mayors of Poznan and Gdansk, where the Croatian team will play, visited Croatia last week to present their cities.

Pusić and Tarka also discussed the possibility of Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski officially visiting Croatia, whom Pusic invited to this year’s Croatia Summit.
