Pusić met with Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec

Pusić expressed satisfaction with the fact that Erjavec chose Croatia for his first official visit

Pusić expressed satisfaction with the fact that Erjavec chose Croatia for his first official visit, saying it showed a new phase in the relations between the two countries that hold great possibilities for further advancement of cooperation.

She said the agreement concerning the international arbitration tribunal to resolve the two countries' border dispute was a positive experience for both Croatia and Slovenia, adding it was in the interest of both countries to protect their citizens' interests, refrain from incidents and accept a judgement of the arbitration tribunal.

The ministers launched an initiative for holding a session at which the two governments would discuss outstanding bilateral issues. They expressed support for the continuation of activities of the joint commission, as well as further advancement of cooperation in economy, energy and infrastructure.

Pusić and Erjavec highlighted the significance of foreign trade, as Slovenia is Croatia’s third in line foreign trade partner. They also stressed the tourist cooperation, in light of the fact that more than 1,1 Slovenians had visited Croatia the previous year.

Erjavec said Slovenia was interested in seeing Croatia join the EU as soon as possible, adding he would personally advocate fast ratification of Croatia’s Accession Treaty. Pusić pointed out that that would send a positive message not only to Croatia, but also to the other EU-aspiring countries of South Eastern Europe.

In view of Croatia’s pending EU entry, both sides expressed belief in further deepening of cooperation in using the European funds, as well as in the transfer of transition and pre-accession experiences to countries in the region.
