University of Zagreb hosted Euro-Mediterranean University Day

This was the first time Croatia hosted the EMUNI Day, an informative and promotional event held in the Union for the Mediterranean member countries. The international EMUNI network was launched in 2010 to stimulate cooperation in higher education, research and in-service training, one of the Union’s priorities. The network incorporates 179 universities from 38 countries and its purpose is to advance, exchange and develop higher education and research programs, with an emphasis on cultural diversity. Apart from project cooperation by the Diplomatic Academy and the University of Zagreb, members of the EMUNI network include the University of Zadar, Dubrovnik International University and the Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik.

Addresses were delivered by Rector of the University of Zagreb Aleksa Bjeliš and EMUNI President Joseph Mifsud. Goals, achievements and perspective of the EMUNI, the strategy of the Union for the Mediterranean, as well as cooperation and joint projects within EMUNI were presented by UfM coordinator at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Nives Malenica, Diplomatic Academy Director Mladen Andrlić, and provost for legal affairs and international cooperation at the University of Zagreb Ksenija Turković. The event ended with a discussion that provided the students, lecturers and diplomats with the information about the possibilities of joining the EMUNI programmes and projects.
