The two officials expressed satisfaction with the excellent and friendly relations between Croatia and Slovakia, as evidenced also by the frequent exchange of visits by high-ranking officials.

Pusić once again thanked Supek for the first ratification of Croatia’s EU Accession Treaty in the Slovak parliament, as well as for Slovakia’s support and assistance to Croatia along its road to the EU membership. Both sides agreed that Slovakia’s ratification was important for launching ratification processes in the other EU members as well.

Ambassador Supek expressed readiness to continue the sharing of Slovakia’s EU experiences with Croatia, as well as the cooperation between the two ministries of foreign affairs and other departments. He pointed out that Slovakia considered Croatia, in light of its pending EU membership, one of its closest partners, with which it shared a number of topics of mutual interest.

It was pointed out that the economic cooperation between Croatia and Slovakia could be developed further, both in terms of energy projects and advancing the cooperation between Croatian and Slovak companies, especially once the new Zagreb-Rijeka railroad is finished.

In regard to the current state of affairs in the region, Pusić voiced Croatia’s readiness to assist with its experience from the Euro-integration process the other Southeast European countries on their road to the EU.

Pusić informed Supek about this year’s Croatia Summit, to focus on using the experiences from Croatia’s accession negotiations. The discussions will revolve around the possibilities of transferring the experiences in institution building to the countries of Southeast Europe and south Mediterranean. She invited Slovak representatives to attend as well.
