Ambassador Weber recalled the four priorities of Denmark's EU Presidency - a responsible, dynamic, green and safe Europe. These goals involve the continuation of efforts to overcome the economic crisis in Europe and new rules of economic governance, reaching agreement on key elements of the EU's financial framework for the period 2014-2020; stimulating long-term growth and creating jobs across Europe and further developing the single market; continuing investments in green technologies and renewable energy sources and encouraging energy efficiency; and stepping up cooperation within the Schengen free travel area as well as strengthening the EU's foreign policy.

Pusić thanked the Danish EU Presidency for its support to Croatia in the last stage of its EU integration process, expressing satisfaction with the positive outcome of the recent referendum on Croatia’s EU membership and the ratification of Croatia's Treaty of Accession to the EU by the Slovak parliament.

She said Croatia was committed to meeting the remaining obligations assumed during its EU membership negotiations, notably those referring to Chapter 8 – Competition Policy and Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights. She expressed satisfaction that continued positive trends in the pre-accession monitoring were reaffirmed by European Commission officials who visited Croatia last week.

Minister Pusić also stressed the importance of EU membership for the rest of the Southeast European countries and reiterated Croatia’s readiness to help them with its experience on their path to membership.
