Minister Vesna Pusić met with Slovenian Ambassador to Croatia Vojko Volk

With Volk congratulating Pusić on her appointment, both sides expressed satisfaction with the good-neighbourly and friendly relations, convinced that the two countries’ cooperation would further improve once Croatia joined the EU. In that regard, the two officials stressed the importance of the decision the Croatian citizens had passed at the previous week’s referendum.

Recalling the onset of the implementation of the Arbitration Agreement, Minister Pusić said that was yet another proof that bilateral talks could yield mutually satisfactory solutions, something to be strived for in the future as well.

Ambassador Volk said that by launching the Brdo Process, Croatia and Slovenia provided a joint example and contribution to the region’s stabilization and economic development, as well as sent the countries of Southeast Europe a strong message of partnership and dedication to the regional cooperation based on European values.

Pusić touched on the preparations for this year’s Croatia Summit, which should be dedicated to the Mediterranean space, and invited Slovenian representatives to cooperate and take part in the Summit.

The meeting also discussed the further advancement of the two countries’ economic cooperation, with both sides expressing satisfaction over the realization of a series of investment projects in Croatia and Slovenia. In that regard, the two sides exchanged information about joint activities in the first half of this year organized by the Croatian-Slovenian Business Club and the Mixed Interstate Commission for Economic Cooperation.

Also discussed the possibility of holding soon an official bilateral meeting on the level of foreign ministers in Ljubljana or Zagreb, once the new Slovenian government is formed.
