Instead of the promised launch of reforms, the Syrian authorities continue to use repression against their own people. The Republic of Croatia is receiving with concern reports about mass murders in Syrian prisons and condemns attacks on the public figures critical of the regime, as well as the attacks on sacred places such as the Al Rifai mosque in Damascus.
The Republic of Croatia maintains that the violence against the Syrian people has to stop immediately and joins the international community’s appeals for the President Assad to step down and make way for the necessary changes, as well as the return of peace and stability in Syria.
