Minister Jandroković was presented the priorities of the Polish EU presidency

Minister Jandroković was presented the priorities of the Polish EU presidency that, apart from signing the Accession Treaty with Croatia, will emphasize the implementation of the measures for achieving and sustaining stability, as well as a stronger economic integration. This will include the defining of the year-long financial framework and budget of the EU. Another priority will be the safe Europe, in terms of strengthening the energy and defence policies, and the open Europe, in terms of further progress in implementing the enlargement and strengthening the neighbourhood policy.

Minister Jandroković expressed satisfaction with the closing of the EU negotiations, thanking the European partners for the support. He pointed out that one of the key tasks Croatia was faced with was the finalization of the Accession Treaty text, which is being successfully carried out together with the EU and Polish presidency. He also expressed satisfaction with Poland’s announcement that the Treaty would be signed end-November/early-December.

The minister pointed out that Croatia would continue to conduct reforms during the pre-accession phase and the ratification process in order to further prove its credibility and efforts to become by 1 July 2013 the fully ready 28th EU member.

In regard to informing the Croatian public on the eve of the membership referendum, he said an intensive campaign was underway to clarify the impact and advantages of Croatia’s EU membership. He said he was pleased that, according to the latest polls, more than 60% of the citizens would vote for Croatia’s joining the EU.

Commending the Polish presidency’s priorities, Minister Jandroković also expressed satisfaction with its intent to enhance the Euro-integration process of the Southeast European countries, pointing out Croatia’s willingness to lend its contribution to that end.
