Minister Jandroković recalled the recent conclusion of Croatia's accession negotiations on full membership of the European Union, highlighting the symbolic connection with the twentieth anniversary of Croatia's independence.

During the negotiating process, Croatia implemented numerous reforms which are irreversible, minister Jandroković said, adding examples of better functioning of the rule of law, combat against corruption, a more competitive business environment and an increasing openness of the market. We are proud of our results and have no doubt that our dedication to reforms will enable us to soon become members of the European Union, the minister said, adding that he expects the Accession Treaty to be signed by the end of the year.

Being both a seaside and a continental country, situated on the intersection of the Danube basin and the Mediterranean, and widely involved in regional cooperation, Croatia will fit in ideally in the mosaic of European unity. Croatia will continue to be the voice of South East Europe in the Union and the promoter of its enlargement, minister Jandroković said.

In the final words, the minister said that Croatia's success in completing the accession negotiations, as well as the recent opening of negotiations between the European Union and Iceland, can be perceived as an incentive to South East European countries in their efforts to implement further reforms.
