Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Gordan Jandroković met on margins of UN ministerial conference in Rome with current General Assembly President Joseph Deiss

The meeting discussed the conference’s topics, which aimed at allowing an open exchange of opinions about the Security Council reform and yielding concrete proposals for the continuation of the intergovernmental talks at the General Assembly’s plenary sessions

The meeting discussed the conference’s topics, which aimed at allowing an open exchange of opinions about the Security Council reform and yielding concrete proposals for the continuation of the intergovernmental talks at the General Assembly’s plenary sessions. In that regard, the Republic of Croatia is open towards cooperation and willing to assist all of the actors, said Minister Jandroković.

The collocutors also touched on the issues of regional representation in the Security Council, as well as the reform of the operating methods and procedures. Minister Jandroković reiterated Croatia’s positions in regard to supporting the idea of expanding both of the Security Council membership categories.

He also recalled Croatia’s experiences during its two-year non-permanent membership in the Security Council

Minister Jandroković informed General Assembly President Deiss about the final activities in Croatia’s negotiation process with the EU, pointing out that the Croatian government remained determined to conclude the negotiations in June this year.

Finally, Minister Jandroković invited General Assembly President Deiss to attend this year’s Croatia Summit in Dubrovnik.
