Central celebration at Cvjetni Square in Zagreb marked Europe Day

The celebration saw Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković

Today’s event is the central point in the series of activities organized as part of the Europe Week, through which the Croatian government is informing the public about the process of Croatia’s EU accession.

At the stands of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the EU Delegation to Croatia, and Croatian institutions involved in the accession negotiations, the citizens could obtain information about the negotiations and familiarize themselves with the opportunities offered by the EU membership, as well as other topics of their interest pending the referendum. Answers were offered personally and through free publications, while a workshop was organized for the youngest, also on the theme of Croatia’s imminent EU membership.

The Europe Week is being marked in all of Croatia’s counties 2-10 May for the 12th year in a row and features various public events such as lectures, conferences, public debates, radio quizzes and performances presenting the citizens with the information about the EU and Croatia’s accession process.

As part of today’s activities, a five-a-side football tournament was organized at the pitches of the “Zagreb” football club and saw the participation of football teams from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Council of the European Union (the “EU Team”), Ministry of the Interior, and Ministry of Defence.
