The collocutors expressed satisfaction with the mutual contacts, stressing their importance in light of the role the European Parliament already played for Croatia, which will be even more important in the period after the closing of the negotiations and prior to acceding to the full-fledged EU membership.

Minister Jandroković thanked the EPP Group Chairman Daul for his personal, as well as the continued support of the EPP for Croatia during its EU negotiations.

He informed him about the current status of the negotiations, the actions the Croatian government had undertaken recently, especially in regard to satisfying the criteria from Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights, and confirmed that all of Croatia’s negotiating capacities were directed at closing the negotiations in June this year.

The EPP Group Chairman Daul once again offered assistance in the final stages of Croatia’s negotiating process, saying he saw no reason for it not to be completed as soon as possible.

Minister Jandroković announced the closing of two chapters at tomorrow’s Intergovernmental Conference on Croatia’s EU accession, which will give further impetus to the completion of the accession negotiations.

The meeting also discussed the Hague Tribunal’s verdicts, the views of the Croatian state leadership and the actions to legally disprove the thesis about a joint criminal enterprise.
