The Ministry is in constant contact with the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Cairo, which is non-residentially covering Syria, as well as the honorary consul of the Republic of Croatia in Damask
According to the information obtained so far, all of the Croatian citizens currently located in Syria are well, the companies employing Croatian citizens are situated in safe areas, and so far no one has requested consular assistance as regards returning to the Republic of Croatia.
We would also like to state that representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration have met with representatives of the Croatian companies whose workers are in Syria, warning them about the potential conflict escalation and further worsening of the situation in that country. The possible withdrawal from Syria, however, is to be decided on by the companies themselves.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will continue to follow the situation in Syria and will, if the security situation deteriorates, take appropriate measures in cooperation with the Croatian companies, the honorary consul in Syria and the Embassy in Cairo to protect the Croatian citizens in this Middle Eastern country.
