Minister Jandroković pointed out the problem of overlapping and mixing of Croatian and Italian TV signals in the Istria County, where residents cannot watch the Croatian TV programs. He also said that, according to the latest information, the interferences had now spread to Zadar and Šibenik-Knin County as well. Field measurements have determined that the cause of the problem are the broadcasts from Italy, using the frequencies that were adopted at the 2006 Regional Telecommunication Conference of the International Telecommunication Union and allotted to the Republic of Croatia.

Minister Jandroković also reiterated that several meetings had already been held between Croatian and Italian telecommunication companies for the purposes of solving the interference issue. The issue has also been raised numerous times at the meetings of working groups for electronic communications and radiofrequency management of various international organizations. After interferences in the Istria County had grown more frequent in December last year, the Croatian Post and Electronic Communications Agency sent an official report to the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.

Given that the first quarter of this year will see the transition from analog to digital signal in several Italian regions, Minister Jandroković asked Minister Frattini to jointly prompt the exchange of information between the relevant state institutions and thus facilitate the resolving of the issue.

He also emphasized the necessity of adhering to the frequency plan and international agreements, as well as using only the frequencies they had assigned to operators.
