Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković participated in meeting of SEECP countries’ foreign ministers

The meeting was organized by Montenegro as the current SEECP presiding country and discussed the implementation of Montenegro’s presidency priorities, current state of affairs in South Eastern Europe, especially in the context of its approaching the Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as the future SEECP activities.

Minister Jandroković thanked Minister Roćen and Montenegro’s SEECP presidency for organizing the meeting and congratulated Montenegro on getting the EU candidate status. Talking about cooperation within SEECP, he pointed out that Croatia firmly supported Montenegro presidency’s promotion of democratic values and European standards in the region. He expressed satisfaction with the achieved results, saying that the relations between the participant countries had entered a new constructive phase. In that regard, he conveyed Croatia’s support for the Regional Cooperation Council, which acts as a platform for identifying the common needs and transferring them into concrete projects.

Given the importance of further strengthening the regional cooperation and its impact on the economic subjects, Minister Jandroković pointed out the possibility of cooperation within CEFTA and other regionally significant infrastructural projects, as well as the cross-border cooperation in the Danube Region. This goes for the Adriatic as well, which holds vast tourist, transport and energy potential, which can lend additional value to cooperation and promote the Mediterranean identity. Such a multidimensional approach to regional cooperation lay excellent foundation for the prosperous future of the region as a whole, said Minister Jandroković.

Talking about Croatia’s EU accession process, he expressed conviction that Croatia would close the negotiations during the current Hungary’s presidency, and would end the year with the Accession Treaty signed. He said that the Hungary presidency’s dedication to pulling the Europe’s southeast closer to the European integration represents a new motivation for conducting the necessary reforms in all the region’s countries.

Saying that the attention of the international community and Croatia in particular was directed at the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Minister Jandroković called to mind the recent joint statement by Croatian President Ivo Josipović and Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Croatia’s support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU and NATO integration.
