After the meeting, the ministers signed the Agreement between the Republic of Croatia and Montenegro on Consular Assistance and Representation in Visa Issuing, as well as the accompanying Protocols between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro. Pursuant to the Agreement, consular assistance and representation in visa issuing to Montenegrin citizens will be offered at the Croatian Embassy in Santiago de Chile, as well as the general consulates in Melbourne, Perth and Los Angeles.

The ministers expressed satisfaction over the very good relations between Croatia and Montenegro, as evidenced by the regular highest-level meetings, good interdepartmental cooperation and the ways of solving the leftover outstanding issues. They also applauded the signing of the Agreement, which will upgrade the two countries’ consular cooperation.

Minister Jandroković said Croatia was firmly supporting Montenegro along its path to full-fledged EU and NATO membership, and was willing to transfer all of its experience and knowledge gained through these processes. In that regard, he congratulated Montenegro on receiving the EU candidate status.

The ministers agreed that the manner in which Croatia and Montenegro were solving the remaining outstanding issues – in the European spirit of good neighbourliness, could serve as an example to the entire region. It was arranged that the two ministers, acting as co-chairs of the Mixed Croatian-Montenegrin Commission tasked with drawing up the legal framework for the two countries to jointly appear before the International Court of Justice in order to solve the border issue, should meet as soon as possible.
