Said conference is the second instalment of the project entitled “The New Model of Croatia’s Economic Growth”, co-organized by Banka Magazine and Poslovni Dnevnik daily. Minister Jandroković delivered a lecture at the thematic panel on “The Croatia That Should Join the EU – Is Fighting Corruption All That Is Left?”

Analyzing the current status of Croatia’s accession negotiations, he said he was convinced that the exchange of opinions and experiences from the conference would contribute to the understanding of Croatia’s EU accession process, as well as what the full-fledged membership actually meant and would bring Croatia and its citizens.

Given the daily progress of the negotiation process, which has been recognized by the European partners as well, Minister Jandroković said he was certain the negotiations would be closed during Hungary’s EU presidency, pointing out that Hungary had set it as one its priorities.

Informing the attendees about the measures undertaken and planned to close the two most demanding chapters – Competition Policy and Judiciary and Fundamental Rights, Minister Jandroković expressed satisfaction with the results achieved to that end, saying that March was expected to see European Commission’s positive report on fulfilling the criteria for closing the chapter Judiciary and Fundamental Rights.

He also presented the dynamics of the process following the closure of the negotiations, pointing out the year-end plan to sing the Accession Treaty, conduct membership referendum and get a clear accession timeframe.

Minister Jandroković also presented the most important guidelines and implementation plan of the Communication Strategy for informing the Croatian public about approaching the European integration and the preparations for the membership referendum. He emphasized the importance of informing the public in a timely and clear fashion about the accession criteria and the positive aspects of membership.

The panel participants exchanged opinions about the negotiation process as a whole, from the first formal contacts between Croatia and the EU, and positively described the transformation of the Croatian society in that period.
