Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković received Head of EU Delegation to Croatia Paul Vandoren and Hungarian Ambassador Gábor Iván, who presented goals of Hungary’s EU presidency

Under the motto “Strong Europe with a Human Touch”, the goals of Hungary’s presidency include further economic, political, social and structural strengthening of the European Union. Head of the Delegation Vandoren and Ambassador Iván pointed out that the closing of Croatia’s accession negotiations, as well as the further enlargement of the EU and good-neighbourly policy, hold an importance place on the agenda of Hungary’s presidency.

Minister Jandroković welcomed the goals and thanked Hungary for including the closing of Croatia’s negotiations in its presidency priorities, as well as for the readiness to organize two intergovernmental conferences in that period. He also thanked the European Commission for continuously supporting Croatia during its negotiation process with the European Union.

In regard to the planned closing of Croatia’s negotiations by the end of the first half of 2011, Minister Jandroković conveyed the Croatian authorities’ determination to carry on with the reforms in all the key areas, namely the justice system and public administration, corruption, and shipbuilding.
