Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković sent letter of condolences and solidarity to Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd over loss of human lives and tragic consequences of Queensland floods

Minister Jandroković expressed condolences on behalf of himself and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration to the victims’ families, and conveyed full support and solidarity to Minister Rudd and all the Australian citizens affected by this catastrophe

The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to Australia, seated in Canberra, is in daily contact with representatives of the Croatian community in Brisbane, which is located in the area struck by the floods.

According to the available information, there are no Croatian nationals among the victims, nor has the Embassy received requests for help in the likelihood of an evacuation of Croatian nationals.

The Embassy estimates there are some 10,000 Australian citizens of Croatian descent living in Brisbane.
