The round table saw the participation of the British businessmen who had been in contact with the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in London and expressed interest in investing in Croatia, including some of the businessmen from this year’s British-Croatian Investment Forum in Zadar.

Minister Jandroković emphasized the importance of strengthening the economic cooperation between Croatia and the UK, especially in today’s globalized world that pushes economic issues to the forefront. As Croatia is a NATO member and has entered the final phase of the EU negotiations, with a legislature that is fully harmonized with that of the EU, Minister Jandroković pointed out the numerous new possibilities for strengthening the Croatian-British economic ties.

Informing the present parties about the status of Croatia’s EU accession process, he said Croatia’s goals was to close the negotiations in the first half of the following year and then sign the Accession Treaty as soon as possible. The Croatian Government will continue with the remaining reforms, said the minister, especially the reforms of justice and public administration, as well as with the shipbuilding restructuring and combating corruption.

Pointing out that the Croatian Government’s measures for economic recovery had already yielded concrete results, he singled out the 16% growth of export in the first nine months of this year in relation to the same period the year before. He familiarized the British businessmen with the Croatian Government’s recently presented investment cycle, entailing nearly € 14 billion of 30 investment projects in tourism, energy, transport, and small- and middle-sized entrepreneurship. In that regard, he expressed hope that some of those projects would interest British investors as well.

Minister Jandroković also stressed the advantages of Croatia’s geostrategic position, which with its well-developed transport infrastructure and ports offers foreign investors excellent possibilities of positioning and further linking with the markets of Central Europe and the Mediterranean.
