Ministarstvo vanjskih i europskih poslova

On Wednesday, 22 September 2010, on the margins of the 65th meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Edmond Haxhinast.

Minister Jandroković congratulated his colleague Haxhinast once again for his recent appointment and expressed hope that during his term in office, successful bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Croatia and Albania would continue.

The Ministers confirmed readiness to continue the established regular dialogue between their respective Foreign Ministries and noted the need for cooperation between other ministries of both states as well.

Minister Jandroković said that the Republic of Croatia would continue to provide consultancy and transfer of knowledge in assisting Albania in its approaching EU membership. He expressed his hope that the Republic of Albania would soon meet all the requirements for abolishing the visa regime with EU Member States and recalled in this connection that Croatian authorities have in this year already introduced provisional suspension of the visa regime with Albania.

Both sides agreed there were many opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation, and on the occasion, Minister Jandroković conveyed the interest and readiness of Croatian companies to invest in the Albanian economy.

They expressed their satisfaction with multicultural cooperation as well, particularly within multilateral initiatives in Southeast Europe.
