Further to the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Finland with a view to strengthening Croatian-Finnish high-tech cooperation, the first summer school of nanotechnology is taking place in Dubrovnik from 19 to 23 September 2010, organised by the Ruđer Bošković Institute, the Finnish Nanoscientific Centre and the Jyvaskyla University.

The school brought together more than 60 PhD-students of nanotechnology from 12 states and the leading European scientists and teachers in this area.

In his opening address, Ambassador DSc Damir Kušen expressed his satisfaction and importance of further cooperation between Croatia and Finland in relating science and high-tech to the economy.

The summer school included a scientific and technological panel discussion on the Potentials of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in the Economic Development, and brought together about fifty scientists, economists and journalists.
