On Tuesday, 21 September 2010, State Secretary Andrej Plenković received Konrad Kobler, a MP in the Bavarian Parliament and President of the Bavarian-Croatian Society, and members of German Hanns Seidel Foundation.

The Bavarian delegation has come to Zagreb to attend the Croatian-German parliamentary conference „Croatia at the doorstep of the European Union“. The conference has been organised by the Hans Seidel Foundation, with collaboration of Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković and prominent MPs from the Croatian Sabor, the German Bundestag and the Bavarian Parliament.

Finding the conference very successful, the partners noted that Croatian-German and Croatian-Bavarian relations were developing excellently and that pending Croatia's membership of the European Union would give further impetus to strengthening our relations.

State Secretary Plenković informed the Bavarian delegation about the efforts of the Republic of Croatia to finish the accession negotiations, expressing hope that in the spring of 2011 Croatia would sign the Accession Agreement.

MP Kobler reiterated the full political support of both Germany and Bavaria on Croatia's path to EU membership. As the chairman of Croatian part of the Croatian-Bavarian Permanent Commission, established back in 1972, State Secretary Plenković emphasised the great contribution of the Commission to the development of bilateral relations in politics, economy and culture, and they also discussed cooperation in preparing the Danube Strategy of the European Union.
