Thanking for the support Germany had been showing Croatia from its international recognition to NATO membership and EU negotiations, Minister Jandroković pointed out that Germany traditionally enjoys great reputation and friendship in Croatia, as evidenced by its second place in Croatia’s overall foreign trade, third in foreign investments, and first in the number of tourist visits to Croatia. An important link in the excellent bilateral relations is the large number of Croats working and living in Germany for decades.

He also remarked that Germany had had a key role in the historical development of the EU, thanking for the support for Croatia’s road to full-fledged membership. Conclusively, he expressed his belief that Germany would remain a key player on both the European and global political scene, and that our countries would develop an even better cooperation in all areas of joint interest once Croatia becomes the 28th EU member.

In his presentation on European policy, Minister Westerwelle explained Germany’s views on the situation and European perspectives in South Eastern Europe, calling on all of the region’s countries to continue along the path of reform, which is the main precondition for joining the EU.
