The purpose of the visit, apart from the general promotion of Croatia, was also the strengthening of the friendship that has been developing since 2002 in the western city of prefecture Tokamachi. Ambassador Štambuk informed the senior officials of the prefecture on the Japan - Croatia Friendship House Project. The construction of the House should start this summer, and the opening is planned for the end of 2011.

Governor Hirohiko Izumida, Mayor Shinoda and businessmen of Niigata expressed their pleasure at the project and promised their support on all levels.
