Bilateral relations, based on strategic partnership, were rated excellent. The central topic of the talks was the situation in the South-East Europe, in Bosnia and Herzegovina in particular.

The parties examined the possibilities of cooperation between Croatia and Turkey with the aim of strengthening the central institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina through trilateral cooperation between the Republic of Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina and the Republic of Turkey. A special emphasis was placed on the possibility of joint appearance of Croatian, Turkish and Bosnian - Herzegovinian economic operators on capital projects of importance for the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina, e.g. the construction of the Vc corridor, the Mostar Airport and others. The two parties agreed that it was necessary to make operative the mechanisms of trilateral cooperation.

The parties exchanged opinions and experiences related to accession negotiations with the European Union and expressed their mutual support regarding the entry of their respective countries into the European Union.

The talks also dealt with the strengthening of the economic cooperation, in particular in the area of the energy industry. The Turkish investments in the Republic of Croatia were greeted. Consideration was given to the possibilities of placing Croatian products on the markets in Turkey, the Caucasus countries and in the countries of Central Asia, to establishing of a large number of direct air traffic lines and the use of Croatian maritime ports.

State Secretary Božinović also met former NATO Senior Civil Representative in Afghanistan and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Hikmet Çetin, several Turkish Members of Parliament, representatives of the media, academic community and prominent think–tanks.
